Not the typical video of "I teach you my home."

Una casa domótica con demasiados dispositivos, notificaciones y automatizaciones.

Today I want to talk to you about some videos of those we can see in YouTube on ‘I show you my home! ‘ And they’re doing it there like a Home- tour where they show you every device they have and every cackle out there. Well, me. I think it’s stupid and I never would. I’ll tell you why.

Eye, this entry is a transcript of the corresponding podcast episode, so you may find it rare to write or some expressions that are repeated, don’t take it into account. So I leave you the episode in case you want to hear it:

Although some are surprised, my refusal is not about privacy. It’s not that I say ‘I don’t want to make this kind of video because I don’t want you to see that I don’t have the bed made or because I keep things inside the shower of the small bathroom that no one uses’. It’s not about any of that. It is true that there are many people who do not want to show their house because you can see more or less the area where you live and see something out the window and so on and in the end you have a lot of heters or fanboys or chorizos friends of the other people, there at the door of your house and it can result in something… Not very good.

In my case, that’s not why. You know that When I record the videos on YouTube, I record them in the living room of my house, with no chroma or anything, you see the family photos and I don’t care at all.. So the privacy issue doesn’t exactly go with me. At least not that kind of privacy. But it is true that When you start in domotics you have a lot of domestic appetite., to put it that way.

And it’s true that you buy all the crazies you think can serve you at home. At first, then you buy all the crazies that are more or less within your reach and that fit you in price and so on and, well, then I’ll see if I give this some kind of utility I’ll keep it for the moment, and we’ll see what I’m doing. However, when you’ve been home for many years, you’re getting a certain maturity and there are devices you know you’re never gonna buy because you don’t have any needs. In my case, for example, I have always said this from the very first moment, the sensor of the presence of Aqara, the FP2,

He’s got a lot. hype. In addition, they have now released a new version that is much smaller size and so on. Look, it wasn’t that well done, either, but well… The fact is that this presence device was put on the wall at half-height, which also carried a cable because you had to feed it directly from a plug, that is, very ugly, it had to be at half-height so that it could detect you well the whole room, even uglier, that is, you couldn’t put it in hiding. And in the end, that sensor had a lot. hype on social media, people were looking for it out there because it also came out at a pretty high price, 80 €, although it is to see

the new model or FP1E… but still, It’s still expensive to be so ugly (no offense).

But that device to me does not solve anything! It is true that it has some utilities, for example, if you have a pet and, I know, you have an automation so that when we all leave home, because the boiler is turned off, right? I don’t care about the temperature at home, the lights and so on, but of course, if you have a pet, you don’t need the boiler to go out anymore because you’re not gonna leave the bug in there cold, are you? Or don’t let the lights go out if you have a dog or something, well, as I don’t have a dog, as you do, I have no idea, but the thing is, if you have those automations to turn off the call.

was, for example, if you have a motion sensor and you have the perret sleeping in the living room, because the motion sensor is going to turn off the boiler because the perret is sleeping, it does not move, however, the presence sensor knows it is there.

Or the typical thing when you go into a bathroom that has a motion sensor, in a bar, in a restaurant, and so on, and if you spend more than X minutes there, you have to move your hands because your light has turned off. The thing is, in the end, that’s an discomfort, I mean, we’re all in there doing swings in the bathroom. With a presence sensor, that doesn’t happen, because the presence sensor knows you’re there even if you slept in the cup. He knows you’re there, so don’t turn off the light.

But in my case, I’m really telling you, it didn’t solve any real need, so all those presence sensors, because I’ve passed. Of the motion sensors, I haven’t passed, but I use them for other things, I don’t use them to light a light, well, even if it’s night, because I can turn on the hall light with that motion sensor. For example, I have one inside a jacket closet and when I open the closet door, turn on the light of the lobby where the jacket closet is. Okay, for that, well, I could have perfectly put a door opening sensor there, but it looked, it was very ugly, however, the motion sensor inside the weapon.

It is not seen, and as it carries a pile, then, super easy to integrate.

I’m telling you, when you’ve been in home for a long time, because you see that there are things that do, that work for you and that work very well, and there are others that go away, then you have fewer devices, or what you have are devices that solve your needs, but you don’t have a wide range of devices there to do things.

People when they enter my house think you need a PDF user manual to be able to use the whole house, and not, actually the house is acting alone, as I have told you many times. Don’t expect to go into my house and see that if a screen here shows you the temperatures of all the rooms, that if here it tells you it’s gonna rain in the next three minutes, as it happens in Formula 1, no, the truth is that I have things that really solve my needs and I work very well, but I don’t know. I think I’d be a little disappointed to get in my house, because although it does a lot of things automatically, although I have a lot of sensors, it’s not a

house museum, to put it that way.

In Telegram groupFor example, there’s a partner who tamed a couch, a couch of these that are reclinable, that you have a little button there, right? I mean, the typical chair our grandparents had, because that’s now taken a new approach and it’s electronic. So you have a little button there to recline yourself, to get the spleen up, the banquet that, everything you want, right?

Or, I think it’s great, I mean, that was a need for him. There is another partner there in Telegram’s group also that made like a kind of little puertecite under the roof this one we have in the kitchen furniture, which is a large wood there that we often get out to clean from behind and so on, well, there made a kind of little puertecite so that when the conga, its roburetor, he finished cleaning the house, he would get under the kitchen furniture, that is, spectacular. Another partner has a mural, looks like a painting, but behind is the air conditioning and when the air conditioning turns on, the picture rises and then the air conditioning is seen.

And all this is very good, but I tell you, I prefer the automation with conditions, rather than the visually very spectacular things, because then in the end I think you get tired of that. I mean, I’ve already told you once about the lights in the bathroom that turned blue when I got up in the morning and went straight to the bathroom, for if that day was going to rain the light would rise, that is, it would turn on in blue and that already told me that I had to take an umbrella, and I didn’t use it already. Through the clock, through the phone, through the alerts of these days with the DANA and so on, because we have clear the time that will make that day, it is true that

It’s one of those things you stop using. It also happens to me with the notifications. You have at first a lot of automations that you believe in your house and you realize that your life is much less predictable than you would like, that is, there are people who would like to have a more organized life, the clearer times, than if the meals, than if the dinners, that if I get home at this hour and so on, and you just need to put on an automation so that the lights will turn on, I know, at 7: 00 p.m., because you’re going to get home at 7: 00 p.m. so you see that you don’t get there every day at 7: 00 p.m., but you thought,

And there are days, because I know, that you have to go to buy something, you have to go pick up a package, that if you have to take the child, I don’t know what, that if you come out later from work because you’ve been put in a meeting at the last minute, I don’t know, a lot of things that make you never get home at 7: 00 p.m., or at least not most days you’re going to get home at 7: 00 p.m., so automate something to get it turned on at 7: 00 p.m., doesn’t make much sense. It’s much better to put in a conditioned automation. And the same is true of the notifications. I mean, I don’t know if you remember, a few years ago the iPhone didn’t have that notification center.

It is and everyone missed them.

Now we have too many notifications and people what we do is we filter the notifications to get us in a summary of notifications, remove alone, that is, remove all the notifications from applications that are of no use to you, some of the advertising, others that tell you, hey, you haven’t been in the app for a long time, don’t you want to…? Well, all that, over time, goes outside too. And little by little, as I tell you, we’re fine. There’s a channel called Home Assistant and Easy Domoticafrom Luis del Valle, who I recommend you take a look around if you have Home Assistant,

because you win the big molo, with Luis I’m out. of how he speaks and the things that are happening to him, and he explained very little ago how to see the results of the League or the Champions League, even of Formula 1, in Home Assistant.

I mean, I think it’s great, I mean, it’s integration, fuck, I’ve made integration weirder, and many. I told you once how I integrated BMW Connect’s services with Home Assistant, so that if the bike was in reserve and I had to put gas in it before I went to work, I would change the alarm alarm to 10 minutes before. And so, when you get on the bike already in a bit of a hurry to get to work, you don’t say, fuck, if it’s on hold, it’s my turn to stop by the gas station. Yeah, that’s an integration you can do as a concept test, I’m not telling you no, but just like the League and Champions League results, that’s, actually, fuck, v

You going to Home Assistant to see that? It still makes sense if you have a panel at home, an old iPad or something, with all the automations you have there, that if, you can see all the devices you have at home, but I already tell you, I think it’s things that as proof of concept are fine, but in my opinion it doesn’t make sense to see the results of the League and the Champions League at Home Assistant… As much as you can integrate into Home Assistant, I think we need to focus a little more on what we really want to see.

This entry was a little bit of reflection for, because that, because I wanted to just highlight that, that you don’t have to have many devices, but you have to have the right devices, the devices you need at home. And, of course, they can go giving you ideas, you can see a partner who has an automation that fits you, but that, we talked about this these days in the Telegram group, that of having a repository of automations that have the others to see which I aplico and which I don’t, I think that finally leads you to chaos. It takes you to say, hey, what use is this? Hey, I could put it on this automation, and so when I get out of the car.

or I press here, by connecting to the Bluetooth of the car I send a notification to my wife, tells her how many minutes I’m missing according to traffic and tal.Yes, great, but it’s that in the end if it’s not something you really need, you’re not going to use. I mean, in the end it’s going to fall into disuse, like many devices that are left without a stack at home and in the end we end end do not use it, or those devices that we have bought in case at some point give me, I know, by integrating it into the house lock so that the motion sensor does not know what, and we do not end.

So I’m telling you, you better be very clear about the real needs and go buy the devices as we need them.
