Apple HomeKit-compatible accessories in Amazon's Prime Day

Accesorios compatibles Apple HomeKit en el Prime Day de Amazon
On June 21st and 22nd, Amazon holds its own ‘sales’, what they call Prime Day (even though it’s actually 2 days). During these two days, special deals are published that are only available to Amazon ‘Prime’ members. If you’re not a Prime member, don’t hesitate to sign up since the service is totally worth it, not just for the free same-day or next-day shipping, but also for the perks of Amazon Prime Now (fresh food delivered straight from the supermarket in 2h) and, above all, for Prime Video, Amazon’s Netflix, where there’s a ton of great shows and movies included with your Amazon subscription. Anyway, this post isn’t meant to be an ad for Amazon but rather a roundup of all the Apple HomeKit-compatible accessories that are on sale during these Prime Day days. Let’s take a look. Keep in mind this post will be under constant updates during these days:

Netatmo Thermostat for individual boilers

Another MUST if you have an individual boiler and want to easily schedule it and set up automations! 35% off the Netatmo thermostat. Connecting it to the boiler is simple, but you’d better check that your boiler is supported at https://check.netatmo.com/es-es/energy/thermostat/gas/boilerbrand. In my case I also use smart valves to close/open radiators depending on whether someone’s in that room, set different temperatures per room, etc. The valve is also 20% off.

Nuki Smart Lock + Opener

Thanks to @Mario S from the Telegram group, I found out about this deal, and it made me buy yet another smart lock! Of all the ones I’ve tried, it’s my favorite. Plus, the Nuki + Opener deal (13% off) includes the Opener, which is a system that lets you send the «open» command to the intercom (or video intercom, though you won’t see the image on your phone), so if you’re not by the intercom or you’re simply not home when someone rings the bell, you can send the command to open the front door. In my case it’s really handy for the kids, since they can go down to the street without keys and open the door from their device, or ring and I can let them in wherever I am. Highly recommended!

Eero PRO and Eero 6 Mesh Router, 30% and 40% off!

Another really good deal! No need for me to go over the benefits of a Mesh wifi again now that we’ve got several gadgets connected. It doesn’t matter whether they’re compatible with the 2.4 or 5Ghz band, the router will negotiate that automatically and we’ll just see 1 network, instead of the typical NETWORK_NAME_2.4 and NETWORK_NAME_5. Plus, the ‘mesh’ capability lets you build a mesh by combining several channels, which gets you better speeds and wider coverage. Remember there’s a dedicated post on this very topic if you want more info. Oh, and Eero devices are compatible with Apple HomeKit, which lets you use the ‘smart firewall’ feature and allow (or block) connected devices from accessing the internet. The thing is, the Eero on Amazon is a great deal right now, both the Pro model (which is the one I have and talk about in the post) and the new Eero 6 which includes Wifi 6. In my case I don’t have any Wifi 6 devices so it’s not worth switching for me, but if you’re thinking of building a mesh network from scratch, it might be worth going for the more modern one 🙂

Meross Smart Switch with Neutral Wire

Heads up, 50% off the Meross wall switch! Of course compatible with Apple HomeKit and lets us automate actions and turn lights on/off from the phone. The lights don’t need to be smart since it’s a wired switch, so it can turn on regular lights without any issue. What you won’t be able to do is change (for example) the light’s brightness, but you will be able to schedule them to turn on and off at a set time or under certain conditions. I already told you that I replaced all the switches in my house with Aqara ones, although at this price I would have gone with the Meross ones, which are a bit nicer looking!

Koogeek Wifi Smart Plug

Another great price for the Koogeek wifi plug, now under €18 when it usually runs around 40! If you’ve been around here for a while, you’ll know it’s my favorite plug with power consumption graphs. It connects via wifi, so you won’t have dropout issues, and obviously it doesn’t need any kind of bridge or hub. I have several of these, although I also use the Philips Hue ones now (but those don’t have consumption graphs):

Tado Heating and Air Conditioning

You already know I’m not a huge fan of Tado, not because it doesn’t work well, but because I think it still has a long way to go to improve. I’m not fully sold on having to buy a whole Tado unit for every single AC unit you have at home. I have 2, for instance, and some people probably have even more… having to buy a Tado v3+ for each one and pay 100-something euros each time… seems pricey to me. If you only have 1 AC unit, forget all this. I wrote a post about this a few months ago. Anyway, Tado devices have a really good discount these days, between 25 and 40%, which brings the Tado v3+ device I mentioned in the post to a little under €70. The heating devices are also discounted, but I can’t really weigh in on those since I haven’t tried them. Here you can check out the deals on these devices.

Meross Waterproof Double Plug

A fellow member from the group has this Meross plug that’s compatible with Apple HomeKit and can also get wet. He has it in the garden and uses it to turn on the Christmas tree lights (yeah, a bit fancy, I know xD). Anyway, it works great and it’s on sale… if you have a garden it might be a good buy.

EUFY 2k Camera with Facial Recognition

The crown jewel of indoor cameras, the EUFY 2K with a 30% discount!. It was on my wishlist and I’m going to buy it, I’ll let you know how it goes, but everyone raves about it. I’ll keep adding more deals!
